Jean DuBoisFreeholder
Freeholder Jean DuBois was elected to her first term in November 2007. Jean was born in Camden, N.J. and moved to Gloucester County with her husband John DuBois in 1956. She has two daughters, Linda who is married to Gene Concordia and Kim who is married to Eric Agren, she has five beautiful granddaughters, Andrea, Danielle, Lindsay (Concordia), Megan and Katie (Agren). Jean’s son John Jr. died at the age of eighteen in 1978.
Jean began her career in government in Mantua Township in 1974. She served as Purchasing Agent Clerk in the office and she served as Treasurer for 10 years. She received her certification as County and Municipal Finance Officer through Rutgers. In 1984 she began as Treasurer, County Finance Officer with the County of Gloucester, where she was appointed for eight three year terms.
Jean was elected to the Clearview Regional High School Board for two terms in 1976. She served as President of the Tax Collector and Treasurer’s Association of Camden, Gloucester and Cumberland Counties in 1984. Jean has served on the Mantua Township Zoning Board, the Gloucester County AVA Commission and has served as Treasurer for the Gloucester County Democrat Executive Committee for twenty three years. From 1984-1986 Jean served as President of the Tax Collectors and Treasurers Association of Camden, Cumberland and Gloucester Counties.
Jean was honored by the New Jersey Association of County Finance Officer’s as Finance Officer of the year in 1998 and again in 2007. Throughout her career in government, Jean has set a standard of excellence in public service. She has been recognized for her outstanding contributions in the field of finance. In 2005 she was honored by the South Jersey Development Council and given the distinguished achievement award.
This year Jean will oversee and be the liaison for the Department of Health and Senior Services, Medical Examiner, Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Services, County Emergency Response, Fire Marshall, Fire Academy, Fire Chief’s Association, Adjuster’s Office, Commission on Women and the Autonomous Board Oversight Committee.
Jean retired from her position as County Finance Officer and Treasurer on November 30, 2007 after serving 23 years.
