GREENWICH TOWNSHIP
Joe DiMenna
- Attended Saint Michael’s Elementary School Memorial & School Street Gibbstown, NJ from 1963 to 1969
- Transferred to Greenwich Township School Gibbstown, NJ in 1969 graduating in 1971
- Attended Saint James High School Carney’s Point, NJ graduation in 1975
- Attended Gloucester County College in the Criminal Justice Program; played Basketball and Baseball 1975 – 1976
- I started my working career in 1976 for Texaco at their Eagle Point Refinery. In 1982 due to the Coastal Corporation take over of the Eagle Point Refinery I was laid off from the refinery.
- In 1982 I was hired by Delmarva Power and started at the power plant moving through the transmission lineman division (building power lines), design and engineering division and finally running and scheduling all the jobs and manpower in Delmarva Power’s Central Region. During those year I went back to school for a business degree attending Widener University and Wilmington College. I left Delmarva Power by choice when Atlantic City Electric, PEPCO and Delmarva Power merged. At this time multiple contractors were interested in employing me.
- In 1999 I joined Brandywine Construction a union contractor performing all types of construction services. Delaware is a right to work state and it became apparent very early in my construction career that union work was not the way to compete in Delaware. In 2001 I had the responsibility to spin off a non-union company for the electric side of the business. I completed the entire start up of Triton Construction and became President; securing 4 million of gross revenue by 2003.
- In 2003 I received an offer I could not refuse to join J. Wm. Foley, Inc. This company was a closed shop that performed the work I cut my teeth on “Line Construction.” I worked for J. Wm. Foley until 2007 where once again a better offer presented itself to become a Regional Manager with Hawkeye LLC who employs me currently.
As a council member, many Greenwich citizens ask me, what major issues would I tackle first? To me, all projects are important however; the one I believe that will require my strongest focus will be continuing to work closely with our county, local council and residents to improve our business and economic development, particularly at the DuPont site located at the foot of Repauno Road. I believe this project is critical so we can maintain a good strong ratable base and continue to maintain our quality services with one of the best tax rates in the county.
What sets me apart from the other candidates running for town council is experience, I understand how things work. I listen to the residents who approach me with their troubles and know how to remedy them. I do not and will not be a councilman without an opinion.  I will continue to research and understand all my decisions so I can do what I believe is correct, for this town and the people I will represent.
